Cinderella Is Dead
What up book people? It’s Tuesday so how about we pull a book from the TBR stack. I’ve got Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron. So I purchased this book because I saw it was on the banned list. Their track record shows that the only reason why they ban books is because they either celebrate equality or present marginalized groups (specifically Black people) in a way that creates empathy. So if it’s banned, Imma buy it, read it, and promote it EVERY single time. So let’s talk about what this one is about and why they hate it.
The book takes place in Cinderella’s world 200 years after she got boo’d up with prince. But some ish has changed. So now the girls have to attend the ball all dressed up where the men pick their wives based on whose OOTD (outfit of the day) is the most lit. Sophia is 16 and doesn’t want to attend the ball because she would rather marry her bestie, Erin. And that’s the reason they banned the book. It teaches love is love and they hate that. Anyway she hides during the ball and meets Constance. Cinderella is like Constance’s great great and a bunch more greats great grandmama. But together they are like “nah this ish is wack let’s bring down the king.” They learn a bunch of secrets about Cinderella. And ion know what happens next because I ain’t read the book yet.
