Charming As A Verb Black Book of the Day

What up book people? Time for another Black book in under a minute. Before I get into today’s book, click the icons in the header to follow @iamcaseyrkelley on all social media platforms. You can even follow my board on Pinterest and pin the books from this series to create a reading list for yourself. So now for the book. It’s Charming As A Verb by Ben Philippe. So let’s get right into it.

Henri is someone that everyone likes. He is a first generation Haitian teenager living in NYC with his parents. He has a business as a dog walker with high ratings from customers. He goes to a private school with rich kidswhere he excels as a senior in high school. He really wants to go to Columbia after graduation. He is known as a charmer because he can pretty much charm anyone, until he meets his neighbor Corinne. She’s a lil high strung and wants to change that about herself. So she blackmails him to help her become more likable. Her mom works at Columbia so maybe this can work in his favor.

Y’all this book is filled with so much Black boy joy and was so fun to read. This was one of those books where you will root for the main character to win and you will enjoy the journey watching to see how it plays out. This is a perfect book to add to your teen’s summer reading list. Read it with them and expect great conversations.

You’re welcome.
