Allegedly

Allegedly Black Book of the Day

What up book people? So yall before I tell you about today’s book, I just want to warn you that if you haven’t read it, it will have you shook to the point that years later you will randomly think about the book and think what in the entire hell did I read. Most of yall already recognize this one. It’s Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson. Clearly I read a lot. But no other book has left me so emotionally damaged, distraught or confused as this one. This was TDJ’s first book and she is an auto-buy even though I know she is going to wreck my soul.

So it is about a teen girl named Mary who lives in a halfway house. When she was nine, her mom was babysitting a lil whire baby who ends up killed. Everyone says Mary did it. She goes to trial and is convicted by a jury. But the real question is did she do it? The book goes back and forth between present day and detective interviews. So it feel like you are trying to piece it all together while reading. And then the girls at the halfway house are cray cray. There were so many questions while reading this one. The way TDJ connects you to the characters is mind-boggling.

If you have read this book, do me a favor and do not include any spoilers in the comments. If you haven’t read it, it is hard to find a physical copy. I have had an order placed directly from the publisher for 30 copies since November that are STILL on backorder. It’s serious in these streets trying to get a copy! But make it a priority to buy a digital or audiobook copy ASAP.

You’re welcome.
